P08 Backpack Black Irish National Army 1920's-1950's
Vintage Irish National Army 08 Pattern Backpack/ shoulder bag
"Fianna Fail" FF surrounded by a sunburst was the marking of the Irish Army. These packs came from an order placed by the Irish Free State with the British manufacturer, Mills Equipment Company, in 1922 (they were then produced in 1923).
These vintage 08 Pattern backpacks are all one of a kind! Each one is unique and may have soldiers’ names or numbers written or painted on. As you can see in the photos, the colors range from various shades of black, gray, and green. These may be frayed, dirty or stained from years of use and storage. This equipment has become very rare piece of Irish history.
Measures 14.5" x 12" x 4.5" and made of cotton duck. The condition of these items range from good to very good.
There are 4 options available to purchase:
- Visible date of manufacture and the Irish National Army Crest
- Visible Irish National Army Crest only. Date was never stamped.
- Barely visible, very faint stamps.
- No markings at all. Completely worn off or were never there.

*by design, these packs attach to braces (suspenders) and a equipment belt (sold separately). It does not come with its own straps. You can order a separate set of P37 shoulder straps if you’d like to use this pack alone.
