East German Red Cross DRK Men's Utility Jacket | DDR Military Surplus
Authentic East German DRK Red Cross Utility Jacket
An underappreciated gem from the former DDR — the East German Red Cross (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz) utility jacket is a well-constructed, historically significant piece of Cold War-era surplus. Built for durability across decades of service, these jackets span three distinct production models from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Model Guide
- 1. Cotton No Patch — 100% cotton, grey, 4-patch pockets, no sleeve insignia. Early production, clean and unadorned.
- 2. Cotton With Patch — Same cotton construction as Model 1, with added DRK sleeve insignia. Mostly hand-sewn post-production, replacing an earlier removable armband. A transitional piece with added collector character.
- 3. Poly Cotton — Later production poly-cotton blend, blue-grey colorway, 4-patch pockets, machine-sewn DRK sleeve insignia. Crisper finish and slightly lighter weight.
